This month the city of Tampa received
its second title in three years as the
NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning won the
Stanley Cup in a riveting 2-1 game seven
win versus the Calgary Flames.
Martin St. Louis, 5-9, 181 pounds, and
pending restricted free agent, as he did
in the regular season and previous rounds
of the playoffs, continued to shine as
he scored 4 goals and 2 assists with a
+/- of 0.
And if hoisting Lord Stanley’s cup
wasn’t enough at the NHL awards
St. Louis picked up the Art Ross (Scoring
Champion), Lester Pearson (Most Outstanding
Player, selected by the players), and
Hart (League MVP) trophies.
St. Louis is the first player to win
the Ross, Hart and Stanley Cup trophies
in the same season since Wayne Gretzky
won it in 1987 with the Edmonton Oilers.
In the playoffs, the 29-year-old St Louis
scored nine goals and 14 assists including
3 game winning goals.
