This month we look to the gift of sports called March Madness to find our player
of the month and find the Naismith Player
Of The Year for our award but we aren’t
talking about Jameer Nelson of St. Joseph’s
we are talking about the women’s
representative, University of Connecticut’s
guard/forward Diana Taurasi.
Taurasi deserves this award for March
but also for her accomplishments during
her four-year career. Taurasi led the
Huskies to their fifth consecutive Final
Four this season after grueling season
in which many doubted whether UConn could
make it back again. Taurasi’s ability
to handle the ball, hit the three and
play all five positions has made her one
of the best players in the history of
college basketball.
This month UConn went 6-1 this month
and Taurasi averaged 19 points, 4 rebounds,
and 5 assists.
She will look to win her third consecutive
NCAA Division I Women’s National
Championship in the first weekend of April.
