No
to T.O.
Terrell
Owens had a tremendous season last year
for the Philadelphia Eagles and his performance
in the Super Bowl was nothing short of
Miraculous. Everybody remembers the song
(T.O., T.O.) and T.O. had the City of
Philadelphia in the palm of his hand.
He
could do no wrong. Owens talked the talk,
but he sure could walk the walk too and
nobody in their right mind could argue
the impact he had on this
team last year. However, T.O., T.O., do
not after the first year of a seven year
contract worth over $46 million, do not
ask for a new contract and expect the
same fans that glorified you to understand.
Oh
no,
that simply does not cut it in this town
and nor should it. Owens being quoted
as saying he is just trying to put food
on the table for his
family, does not hold too much water either,
especially after these
same
fans mortgaged their homes to go the Super
Bowl only a few short months ago.
Andy
Reid, Joe Banner and the rest of the Eagles
brain trust is dead on with this one.
Owens has a contract that he signed only
a year ago (and
a
lucrative one at that) and he needs to
honor that contract. Jeffrey Lurie stated
the Eagles have no intention of reworking
his contract and do
not look for the Eagles to back down anytime
soon.
They
have never done so in the past with the
likes of Jeremiah Trotter, Troy Vincent,
Bobby Taylor and Duce Staley, just to
name a few and they are not going to do
it with best receiver possible in Eagles
history either.
The
Eagles signing Owens to a new contract
would only open the flood gates for other
players such as Brian Westbrook, with
everybody in that locker
room then wanting a new deal. It simply
does not work that way.
Owens
received awful advice for his new, hair
slicked back, smooth talking agent, Drew
Rosenhaus, because he has no leverage
here. The Eagles made it to three straight
NFC Championship games without Owen and
finally won the NFC Title game last season
with him too. As amazing as Owens play
was in the Super Bowl, the Eagles still
lost the football game.
Owens
needs to get himself into camp or at least
in by the opening of the regular season
and that is it. The Eagles surely will
miss Owens' 77 receptions
for 1200 yards and 14 touchdowns, but
they will not concede
because
of it. It has already been stated that
Reid will replace him and move on.
All
that being said, Owens will be in uniform
by the start of the 2005 season, because
he is too smart and arrogant not too.
Owens wants his money
and he is not going to make any money
holding out, being fined,
and
having his salary withhold. He is not
getting any younger and holding out does
not benefit him at all in this regards.
The
main reason Owens will start the season
with the Eagles is because he loves being
in the spotlight and there is now way
in the world he'll miss
an opener on Monday Night Football against
the Atlanta Falcons. In
case
anybody has not noticed, Week two the
Eagles play Owens' former team in the
San Francisco 49ers, followed by a match
up with Randy Moss and
the Vikings in the third week of the season.
T.O.
will be there and the fans will chant
his name once again, but if he's not,
do not expect any tears from the fans
of Philly.
Go
Back to the Dark Side.
Star
Wars episode six or three or whatever
they call it hit theaters last week and
talk about a bunch of losers. To get a
glimpse of many of the
biggest freaks in our galaxy, one only
had to drive to their local theater to
witness the shear madness and ridiculousness
of it all.
These
people have issues and really need to
get a life. Thousands of people across
the county actually waited in line for
sometimes over 24 hours
in full Star Wars attire to be able to
be among the firsts to
watch
this "epic." Come on now, are
you serious? There were people: man, woman
and child alike dressed up as Darth Vader,
Princess whatever and
the
rest of the goons. One guy even transformed
his whole car into some sort of Star Wars
tribute. Wow!
They
do all this to see a movie that will be
out in the theaters for the next couple
months and are available on DVD forever.
Now, before you say,
don't these freaks remind you of the guy
dressed in full body paint
at
an Eagles game? Remember one thing. Star
Wars is not real! No matter when or how
many times you see the movie, the ending
is always the same. It was predetermined
by some nut, years ago typing away on
his keyboard, high on drugs unbeknown to
mankind. Eagles football and sports is
played out in front of us in real time,
with the outcome not know and that is
enough
of this comparison.
These
people need to be put on an island with
the Star Trekies and Dallas Cowboy fans
for a scientific study to see what kind
of species they create. Actually let's
not do that, but simply tell these people
to come back to our planet. Do not let
the force be with you.
Phillies
Fans had enough
Ed
Wade's Philadelphia "Sillies"
are a horrific organization and an absolute
embarrassment to the city of Philadelphia
and we had enough. It has been written
many times by many writers, including
myself about the mistakes Ed Wade has
made over the years, so there is no need
and not enough
space to list them now.
Yet,
to insult the fans of this team is a whole
another ballgame altogether and as usual
it is a ballgame the Phillies will not
win.
Wade
and "Jolly" Charlie Manuel continuously
preach to the fans to be patient and to
give this team time. Time! Well they are
finally moving up the standings I still
say show me that in September.
This
fan base has stuck by this joke of a franchise
for over 100 years, with only one World
Series title to show for it. Wade's past
seven years
with
zero postseason appearance would not exactly
be labeled as successful either.
This
man hired a manager who has no idea how
to manage a major league baseball team
and Wade himself has no business making
any baseball decisions.
But,
be patient though because at some point
next year (they are only about 100 losses
away) this Phillies team will become the
first team in the
history of professional sports to lose
10,000 games. Yes 10,000 games, but be
patient because Mike Lieberthal, Terry
Adams and Vicente Padilla have potential
and are due to have a break out year anytime
now.
