| The
GeoSports Player of The Month is Adrian Peterson
of the NFL's Minnesota Vikings. This 6-1, 217
pound. rookie running back is lighting up the
league and setting records and reminds many
of Jim Brown, the legendary Cleveland Browns
back.
As
a freshman at The University of Oklahoma, Peterson
was second in Heisman Trophy voting to Matt
Leinart and set a lot of records, rushing for
1,925 yards on 339 carries.
As
a rookie he is a big reason the Vikings are
in the playoff hunt and his November was a big
reason why! On November 4th, Peterson broke
the franchise and NFL single game rushing yard
record running for 296 yards on 30 carries and
scored 3 touchdowns as the Vikings upset the
San Diego Chargers. Peterson already ran for
200 yards in a game in his short NFL career
and that game put him above the 1,000 yard mark
in eight games. That mark is the 1,036 is the
best eight game mark by a rookie in NFL history.
In
November, Peterson averaged 170 yards and 8.3
yards per carry and even though for scheduling
reasons it was only 2 games it's enough.
