Noah is our player of the month for March of
2006 as we pay tribute to the college basketball
season. Noah, son of Tennis Hall of Famer Yannick
Noah, led his team, The University of Florida,
to the National Title in this year's edition
of March Madness giving the Gators their first
national title in basketball.
Noah,
the 6-11, 227 sophomore forward/center led the
Gators to 11 straight wins in route to the title
and was the first sophomore to win Tournament
Most Outstanding Player since Corliss Williamson
did it in 1994 for the University of Arkansas
Razorbacks in 1994. In the the game to reach
the final four versus Villanova, Noah scored
21 points with 15 rebounds and 5 blocks. In
the title game versus UCLA, Noah had 16 point
of 7 for 9 shooting, 9 rebounds and 6 blocks.
For
the season, Noah averaged 14 points, 2 blocks
and 7 rebounds.
The
good news for Gators fans is he says he's staying
for a hopeful repeat performance.
