| The
GeoSports Player of The Month is Philadelphia
Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard. Howard
was the key reason the Phillies pulled it together
and won the National League East Division crown
for the second straight year. Howard certainly
started off slow to begin the season but picked
it up and has a great shot at the National
League Most Valuable Player award! If he did
win the award it would be his second (his first
coming in 2006)and the Phillies third straight
(Jimmy Rollins in 2007).
Ryan
Howard had a September to propel the Phillies
to the playoffs for the second consecutive
season. His September numbers of .342 average,
.848 slugging percentage, 10 home runs and
28 RBIs have been matched in baseball history
only twice, by Hall of Famer Hank Greenberg
in 1940 and Babe Ruth in 1927, the year in
which he hit his 60th home run.
