| The
GeoSports Player of The Month is forward Paul
Pierce of the Boston Celtics. The 10 year veteran
out of The University of Kansas finally won
the NBA championship that alludes many this
past season after years of disappointed and
defeated the rival Lakers (his hometown team,
by the way) in the process in six games earning
Finals Most Valuable Player honors.
Pierce
showed leadership and poise throughout the season
and postseason and the Celtics surprised many
by winning it all after finishing dead last
in the Atlantic Division last season. The 6-7
forward hit big shot after big shot and allowed
MVP Kevin Garnett and All-Star Ray Allen into
the Boston locker room after they were acquired
last off-season. His willingness to adapt to
sharing the ball (no surprise here) was rewarded
by the success the team had!
In
the final two rounds of the playoffs versus
the Detroit Pistons (19.7 points per game, 5.8
rebounds) and Los Angeles (21.8 points per game,
4.5 rebounds) Pierce did whatever it took to
win and that's the bottom line! The stats don't
look impressive but the year number next to
the NBA Championship team certainly will!
