This
mixtape starts with "Septa Pension",
a song with a beat that sets the scene
of epic proportions. Mingo explains himself,
where he's from and what he's about.
On "What's That Sound", Mingo
talks about the music he's trying to
make and the journey he's taking to make
it.
"Brimstone" lets Mingo
get loose on a looped beat talking about
his prowess on the microphone and the
power of his lyrics.
"China Chubakka" uses
the classic reggae beat from You don't
love me" and Mingo gets busy once
again.
Mingo
lets the people know where he's from
on "So Philly", a
track where Mingo name drops and tries
to give you a glimpse into his North
Philadelphia roots.
Mingo
preaches to the people on how he makes
music with no money on "Creflow", an upbeat
track that will have you moving side
to side in your chair or on your feet.
"Remember
Me" is about the soldiers in the
Middle East and right here in America,
whether in uniform or not. He gives you
a story that many can relate to and does
it well questioning why people aren't
as concerned with Somalia and Haiti as
they are with Iraq.
Sometimes
your friends can be enemies and things
aren't what they appear to be. Mingo
talks about this on "Back Home",
a lyrical track notably on the "Hip
Hop" beat
made famous by Dead Prez.
"DC
to Gogo" has a down south beat and
Mingo shows his versatility and "Stop
Frontin" talks about people saying
one thing and doing another.
Other
songs on the mix include "Chosen", "Good
Man Gone", a cut with some nice
scratches and featuring Sekani Williams
and "Canceled Debt", a track
where Mingo talks about what he brings
to the game and over the beat.
Overall, a mixtape with diverse sounds
and topics regular people can feel. I'll
give it 4 GeoGlobes and tell you it's
highly worth the listen.
I'll give this LP 4 GeoGlobes.
