Morgan is not a solo artist as many would
think by their name but rather a group
consisting of MCs Donwill, Ilyas and
MC/Producer Von Pea repping Cincinnati
and Brooklyn, New York respectively since
2003 collectively. The three man team
comes through with The Bridge EP,
9 tracks with nice beats and surprising
lyrics.
The
team does it's thing on cuts like "The
Bridge" featuring Euclid, a organ
laced track that borrows from KRS-One
and MC Shan's classic beef.
"Filthier
aka "Place"" has a nice
beat with samples that reminds you of
De La Soul in the early years.
Morgan
members talk about burning midnight oil
in pursuit of their goals in "Got
To Be Done" and "Be You" featuring
Czelena on the hook has a nice two-step
feel to it.
"Get Me Inside" has
a slow groove appeal to it and the fellas
do their thing talking about their sexual
experiences.
Morgan
members jump on a fast jazzy track on "Threemcees" and
you can get the feeling that they aren't
sweet to the taste as MCs.
"Hip
Hop Is Dead II" talks about how
Hip Hop isn't dead and much more over
a saucy slow cut.
The
bonus track "How
Low" is something out of a time
machine and the roller skating rink!
The three man team does it thing rapping
in a 1980s style and ends the EP on a
wanting more.
This is solid effort and the members
show their individuality on this EP.
I'll give it 4 GeoGlobes. It's worth
the investigation.
