GeoReview:Q-TIp, Live At The Renaissance (a.k.a. Relive The Moment)
By Clayton Ruley

As one of the greatest groups in this and any era it's sad to realize that A Tribe Called Quest may never record an original music album again. With that said it's important that we move on and but also realize that we have to try and enjoy what glimpse of its former member do when we can. This 17 track, hour long has the jazzy/rock feel to it with a lot of live instruments and is an ode to the back to the basics movement some are championing for.

The album features collaborations from Q-Tip
with Andre 3000 of Outkast, D'Angelo, Stevie Wonder & Mario Winans and Pharrell and Busta Rhymes. Q-Tip's first LP Amplified wasn't what many looked for and his Kamaal The Abstract & Open CDs were shelved before
they hit the stores for being allegedly too "uncommercial" so this is long overdue and people wanna know if it's worth it?

In a word yes.

While this is probably a mix of both the Open, Relive The Moment materials, Tip gives you some of the same candid and witty lyrics you remember him for as well as showing a different side that uses more acoustics and serious messages to . Highlights include the opening "Johnny Died", "That's Sexy" (w Andre 3000), "Lisa", "Black Boy", "Barely In Love","Compute", "I'm Not Gone"
"Have It" and "Where Do You Go".

If you liked Common's Electric Citrus, Mos Def's The New Danger or even Andre's The Love Below  as I have, it has a similar vibe. I hope the official release with be even better with some addition tracks!

I'll give it 4 GeoGlobes. I'm hungry for more and despite the label hotheads I'm sure real heads are too!
