After
his debut H.N.I.C. album in the
late 20th century Prodigy proved himself
able to carry an album on the dolo! He's
voice and lyrics are gritty and many can
feel his pain. Those combined with his
regular cast of producers (Mobb Deep partner
Havoc and recently The Alchemist) keeps
his projects usually above the competition.
Now
doing the independant route via Koch,
Prodigy hopes to repeat and surpass the
success the MOBB had on independant status
i.e. Free Agents. Produced entirely
by The Alchemist, this album shouldn't
have a problem on the beat side of things.
The
album starts off messed up with the whole
return of the mac theme playing from the
popular song of a few years back but quickly
returns to prominence with "Return
Of The Mac", the second track. "Stuck
On You" is vintage Alchemist complete
with soul and movie like sound. "Down
& Out In New York City" uses
a sample from James Brown to its best
but we don't get to hear Prodigy spit
because it unfortunately it blends off
into "The Rotten Apple", slow
track that allows Prodigy to talk about
why his streets are the roughest.
Other
tracks you will like include "Legends",
"Stop Fronting" and "That's
That". The 14 song CD has three bonus
tracks and it's good if your familiar
with Prodigy's style but this is not his
best work.
Overall I'll give it 3 GeoGlobes.
