GeoReview: Nicolay, Here
By Clayton Ruley

Nicolay is one known for the collaborative effort with Phonte called Connected as the group called the Foreign Exchange as well as The Dutch Master Mixtape, Volume One and City Lights 1.5. Now he's back with a different album called Here where he gives the people more hot beats and lets people flow over them (or not).

It's amazing that Hip Hop has the power to create standard sounds but Nicolay is one that has picked it out that sound and has added his flair to it. Darien Brockington sings on "I Love The Way You Love". If you think it sounds a little Justus Leagueish it's because Phonte arranged it. I Am The Man introduces us to Black Spade, a hungry artist from St. Louis. Spade kills this track and also the tracks "Good Days Are Gone" and "The End Is Near". Some tracks are instrumentals or feature limited lyrics like Let It Shine For Me, the Here (intro and outro) and Give Her Everything and Nicolay gets people a chance to express themselves like Sy Scott and Kay on "My Story".

This album is hot debut for Nicolay and he got some real talented people to spit on his beats. He shows he's no one trick pony and I look forward to his next venture.

I'll give it 4 GeoGlobes.
