GeoReview: DJ Jazzy Jeff, The Return Of The Magnificent

By Clayton Ruley

DJ Jazzy Jeff is known by many as one half of the super combo featuring WIll "The Fresh Prince" Smith but he's been busy since those days doing work with music finest including his extensive work with Jill Scott and Musiq through his A Touch of Jazz Productions. His solo
work has included The Magnificent, Hip Hop Forever II & III, The Soul Mixtape and Soulheaven Presents Jazzy Jeff In the House.

Now he makes his latest work with The Return Of The Magnificent featuring production from Jeff himself and collaborations from greats like Big
Daddy Kane and some hot ass artists.

Need names? Try Jean Grae, Raheem DeVaughn, Black Ice, Eshon Burgundy, J-Live, C.L. Smooth, Rhymefest,
Peedi Peedi, Kardinal Offishall, Dave Ghetto, Twone Gabz, Kel Spencer, Chinah Blac, Method Man and Pos of the great De La Soul.

The 16 track LP is over an hour long and is filled with hotness. Tracks you need to hear include: Run That Back (Burgundy, and Black Ice), The Definition (Kel Spencer), Practice (J-Live),a track that uses Allen Iverson's famous "Practice" tirade, Come On (Ghetto) Brand New Funk (Peedi) and My Soul Ain't For Sale (DeVaughn) but it's really all exceptional.

A ode to the past with a lovely mix of artists, Jeff's project is a nice to the ears and can be played while working, driving or playing. The mood doesn't get spoiled because of the different sounds presented. I'll give it 4.5 GeoGlobes.
