After
the critical success of their first album
Lord Willin' The Clipse have
returned to the scene and it's the same
grindin' music.
This
12 track LP has a heavy Neptunes flavor
to it and both Pusha T and Malice still
talk that money, cash and honeys talk.
The Clipse haven't been in the big lights
due to label & team battles but have
kept their names in streets due to the
mixtapes scene that blew up in the new
south of U.S.A. especially their We Got
It For Cheap series and the formation
of The Re-Up Gang. The Re-Up Gang (peep
them on "Aint Cha" was formed
and consists of The Clipse, Sandman, Ab-Liva
both of Philadelphia PA.
This
music isn't for the kids but if you mature
and you know that these are artist paid
to tell stories about their life present
and especially past you can ride to this.
The beats are nice. Songs like "Mr.
Me Too" and "Wamp Wamp (featuring
Slim Thug)" have definite commercial
while "Momma I'm Sorry", "Keys
Open Doors", "Ride Around"
"Shinning (featuring Liva and Rosco)"
and "Chinese New Year" do the
streets right. "Nightmares"
is very calm for the Clipse but it's tight
due in part to Bilal's sound on this guest
appearance.
Overall a OK album but something is missing.
Maybe it's the time lost over the label
fracas and the dependance on the Neptunes
for all the beats.
I
would like to hear the Clipse on some
different producers tracks and also wanna
see them show some of the same in-depth
lyrics we heard on I'm Not You or Virginia
on a consistent basis.
They
do what they do well but it could be a
longer more diverse album with those type
of tracks. I'll give it 3 GeoGlobes.
