Jamie
Foxx has an Oscar with his win for Best
Actor for Ray and now he's dipping back
into the singing game. Unpredictable
is the title and also the hitting
first single featuring Ludacris and this
album is more than the single.
Foxx may not be extra tight with LL Cool
J. but he's trying to be the R&B version
of the Rap legend singing strickly for
the ladies and telling them what he'd
do to them and where.
Featuring
appearances from Luda, The Game, Twista,
Snoop Dogg and Kanye West (who also guest
produces), Common and Mary J. Blige, doesn't
use them to patch an album together and
shows the singing ability you caught glimpses
on during The Jamie Foxx Show
and on his 1994 debut, Peep Thi s.
The
melodies are tight and with beats by Tank,
Timbaland, Warryn Campbell, Mike City,
Jim Jonsin, Big D., Harold Lilly, Ron
Feemster, Face, Daron Jones, RL, Mateo
Laborial, No-ID, M. Snoddy, Sean Garrett,
Polow Da Don, Charlie Bereal there are
enough sounds to make most have a good
night!
The
15 song, one hour LP has some real high
spots like "Storm (Forecass)", "Extravaganza"
featuring Kanye West, a song talking about
big time partying, the title track, "Wish
You Were Here", a track talking about
the loss of his grandmother and "With
You", a song about having a good time
and wanting more time!
This
album is enjoyable and took me by surprise
when I first heard it. The sound
is good and Foxx has good range and command
of his voice. The best songs (only
six songs have Foxx listed as an co-writer)
are written by people besides Foxx but
we all know many who don't write their
own material. Foxx reminds me of
very crafted Carl Thomas and he'll likely
grab that same market. You can play this
with your lady or man friend and have
a good time. Foxx did a good job
and can come out with his next album sooner
than 10 years from now!
I'll
give the album 4 Globes.
