GeoReview: Black Rob, The Black Rob Report
By Clayton Ruley

Black Rob has been with Bad Boy for almost a decade but has only put out one album before this latest effort The Black Rob Report . Part of the reason being he can't stay out of the prison system! The first solo effort Life Story was a classic one but didn't get it's proper due because Rob was in prison. Now finally out to serve the people with the album The Black Rob Report .   This 22-track album shows Rob as a star in the hood with a few problems that still likes to have a little fun!

This album features production by Deric "D-Dot" Angelettie, Tony Dofat, Harve Pierre, Coptic, The Buchanans, Scram Jones, Stevie J., O'Shea Hunter, Buckwild, Mr. Porter and Nashiem Myrick. The production of Angelettie, Myrtck, and J, in particular features the services of the Hitmen, Diddy's production team well known for making hits for Mase, Biggie and The Lox in Bad Boy's hey day.

Songs worth checking out include "Star In Da Hood", "B-L-A-C-K", "You Know What" featuring Minister Farrakhan "Team" featuring hungry Making The Band veterans Ness, Babs and Chopper and Bad Boy's newest addition Aasim and "Ready". Notorious B.I.G. makes a chorus appearance on "Yall Know Who Killed Him" and Akon sings the hook on "Watch Your Movements".

Rob sounds like he's still hungry for acclaim and proves that he can sound good on different sounding beats from those that sound Latin to freestyle beats.   He has songs you can get hype to and those you can listen to while doing other work; the album is a good mix of sounds and has moves nicely.   Rob does a good job of using talking the hood slang but not being vulgar with it. You have to listen a little to get the gist of his topics.

The album gets 4 Globes. This is a solid return for Spanish Harlem's finest!
