Under
the radar a group of MCs rhyme to get
their voices heard and the truth spoken
regardless of if the money comes or not.
Harlem MC Immortal Technique is
one of the MCs and he is hot. After
months of hearing about this New York
(by way of Peru) MC I finally listened
to the LP Revolutionary Volume 2
and it is one of the most politically
charged and hottest albums in the year
of 2004.
With
limited guest appearances, including one
by Jean Grae, Technique proves he doesn't
need the posse cuts or the twenty guest
appearances on a album to make it hot.
He reminds you of Chino XL, Nas
and Canibus rapped up into one MC.
Some may think he is just too rude to
be a rap star but he does spit the truth
and we all know that most people don't
want to listen to the truth more than
they want to listen to their own stories.
Technique talks about the streets
of North America and South America, women,
the drug game, the government, his place
in Hip Hop as an artist and the shady
record companies to say the least.
He
shines on song like "Peruvian Cocaine",
where he breaks down the drug connection
from there to the United States, "Industrial
Revolution", which he talks about how
industry has and will play a big part
in society, "The Message and The Money",
where he talks about not selling out to
sell out and "Truth's Razor", where he
discusses how some truths and how the
truth is the enemy to some people who
want to keep others in the dark.
This
album is 18 tracks and needs to get more
play but of course it won't because of
its political nature. If you want
to dance you don't need to cop this but
if you want to hear about the political
nature of this and other countries and
want to listen to a MC who spits like
a animal locked in a cage then check this
out because you will be pleased.
I'll
give it 4 globes. The ability to
use battle style rhymes and also kick
subject rhymes make this a great LP to
breakdown and think about!
