After
all the smoke cleared from the beef with 50
Cent, no one knew what to expect from The Game.
Would he come back out and flop or would he
keep making good music even without 50 Cent
to co-sign. Then after it was announced that
The Game would be leaving Aftermath to sign
with Geffen, fans were even more pessimistic
about what The Game would be able to deliver.
Well, I am here to inform you that The Game
has not only delivered but he has far surpassed
what I expected from him.
This
new album, Doctor's Advocate , is just
as good as his first album...if not better!
Track for track, this could be one of the best
albums of the year. Game definitely, rep for
the West Coast on this one. After listening
to this Album it makes you wonder why he even
needed 50 Cent in the first place.
So
what can fans of The Game expect from Doctor's
Advocate?
This new album, Game has evolved as an emcee.
His lyrical content is showing much growth on
this album. There is no Dr. Dre involvement
on this album, so far as the beats are concerned.
However, I can say that there is nothing missing
sound-wise, not even with the absence of Dr.
Dre.
I
think he was able to fill that void with an
assortment of the industry's top producers.
Game also decides to pack this album with star
power in the form of Kanye West, Snoop Dogg,
Nate Dogg, will.i.am
, Busta
Rhymes, Xzibit, Nas, Kurupt, Daz, Jamie
Foxx, Pharrell, and many more. The latest effort
from Game is sure to propel him into the hip-hop
stratosphere.
This
album is hot from front to back. If there are
any low points on this album it would probably
be the track he does with Daz & Kurupt,
track 14 on the album. The track isn't that
bad but its just that Kurupt sounds horrible.
Kurupt really brings the track down. I don't
know what happened because Kurupt use to be
hot lyrically but now it seems as if he's completely
lost it. Game delivers his usual flow and Daz
isn't great but he holds his own.
Another
track I am a little disappointment with is Track
5, "The Remedy", the Just Blaze produced
song where the Public Enemy song his looped.
I not disappointed with the flow, Game actually
kills the track lyrically. I am a little disappointed
in Just Blaze's production on the track. Instead
of doing something creative with the track,
he pretty much just uses the entire track with
a sped up baseline and put The Game's vocals
on top of it. That's a lack of creativity and
a little lazy in my opinion. However, that would
be the only issues I have with this album. All
the other tracks are all more than solid on
the album.
Just
Blaze does make up for his lack of creativity
on track "The Remedy", with what I
believe is the best track on the album the last
one featuring Nas and Marcia from Floetry. What
can I say about it but Nas spits fire, Game
spits fire and then Marcia just comes in and
kills it with her very beautiful voice. Of course
Just Blaze does his thing behind the boards.
All these elements combine to make a classic
song. Another great song on the album is the
Kanye West produced, "Didn't Get Far".
The song Game dedicates to all the video chicks
and groupies. Game also has other highlights
that include: "Old English", a song
where Game reflects on his life leading up to
this day.
Another
great song is the song featuring Busta Rhymes
where Game apologizes to Dr. Dre for walking
away from Aftermath. I like this song because
of the creativity of it. Game begins the song
with a skit of him and Busta talking and Game
is getting really drunk while Busta is trying
to get him to stop drinking and go home. The
creativity of it is that Game spits his entire
verse as if he were actually drunk and out of
it. I think that adds to the song because so
can feel the emotion he is trying to get across
in the song. I cannot forget this song, "West
Coast" featuring Snoop and Xzibit, which
will probably become the new West Coast anthem
within the next couple of months.
Overall,
I think this album falls just short of being
a classic. I believe most rap fans, whether
your from the west coast, east coast or the
dirty south will like this album. Game proves
he is a rapper that can stand on his on two
feet. Game will definitely be around for a long
time so rappers in the industry need to get
use to it. This album definitely made me a Game
fan and I am sure it will do the same for you.
I
give this Album 4.5 globes out of 5.
