GeoReview: Little Brother,
Chittlin' Circuit: The Mixtape

By Clayton Ruley

Little Brother is the North Carolina bred group consisting of Big Pooh, Phonte and 9 th Wonder.   Many may have hear of 9 th as he did the track "Threatz" on Jay-Z's The Black Album but the group is so much more as they conjure thoughts of Tribe and look to be one of the most consistent and upcoming artists.    Hard beats, a sense of history, humor and thoughtful lyrics were some of the qualities that got Little Brother a deal with Atlantic Records recently.   Before the news dropped though they recently released Chittlin' Circuit: The Mixtape, a collection of unreleased, uncensored, remixed and new cuts.   This album is right in line with the underrated debut album The Listening and features LB with some a couple of Hip Hop's greatest and latest.   Of the 21 tracks some of the hottest are "Long Time Coming" featuring Oddisee, "Feelin' Alright" produced by DJ Mitsu, Altitudes, the bass heavy "Shake It", "Welcome TO Durham" featuring Big Daddy Kane, "I See Now" featuring Kanye West and Consequence and "Give It To Ya" produced by Pete Rock.

This Mixtape is a treat for all Little Brother listeners and can hold you down along with the Foreign Exchange (Phonte and Nicolay) LP (check for the review and more coming soon) till the next album comes out.

I'll give the Mixtape 4 globes.
