The
soulful sounds of Philadelphia native
Lady Alma have been in the air for years
especially in Philadelphia. With
a voice reminisce of Chaka Kahn and other
of the greats of the music this lady brings
an upbeat 70's flavor to her music and
it's felt worldwide. The Ill Vibe's DJ
Statik has mixed some of Alma's best,
rarely heard and other hits in A Taste
Of.Lady Alma Ill Vibe Mega Mix Vol.1 .
For all those who don't know this
lady jams and usually features a crazy
accompaniment of sounds from woodwinds,
to electric synthesizers to crazy guitars.
This mix is 15 tracks and about
55 minutes and it show Alma range as an
artist. Some of the tracks of note
include a version of "Last Night A DJ
Saved My Life", "Adore" a racing mix of
sounds and lyrics, "Lift Your Voices",
a song that is incredibly important today,
a Osunlade/Bugz Mix of "Hold It Down"
and "Stop Wasting Time" which features
some funky sounds.
Also
included on the CD is a short film called
A Taste Of Lady Alma, a short
film by Mike Dennis. This film
brings Alma to your eyes as a passionate
soul survivor. This is a woman
with a passion to perform and make people
move. This film is done very well
(I wonder if on a Mac?) and I learned
a lot about the lady's drive on this film
and it was short but to the point. People
featured on the short film include Alma
herself, King Britt, Rich Medina, Ursula
Rucker, and KC Bajai.
I'll
give the mix and the film 4 globes.
For all those who were ignorant to Alma
and her talents this was an eye opener
and you have been served with soul and
a smile.
