Slaves were freed
The Land cried and cheered
A culture was Lost
And a nation Divided
As a new day began on foreign territory
Soon America "Had a Dream"
To unify the masses
As the whole world watched
and criticized their actions
The Dreamed plowed the soil
The Blood moistened the ground
The Son shed some Light
For a new day to come
The birth of a Legacy
the First of his family
Popular was the name
no one rejected a Kennedy
On the brink of its horizon
Assassination was the goal
As a conspiracy ripped through souls
America sat and tarried for
A Dream to come alive
As generation after generation
Quickly passed by
Hope deferred seemed
the Song of Our Story
As patience grew thin
man never refused to give Him glory
America Had a Dream
A Black president was not in the making
Although all of Their accomplishments
Never stopped Them from trying
to become that 1st Black president
of a nation slowly dying
With families killing families
At the wake of a 3rd world war
An economy designed to bankrupt
As the crime rate soars
The rich race to aide other countries
Which is quite alright
But who will help Mista in America
who has given up the fight?
His name isn't common
In fact he's the only one you know
A man birthed from "The Dream"
with determination, vision and hope
Our future looks brighter now
and A change is pretty evident
We salute you Barack Obama
America's FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT!
