One
of the great lyricists and musicians,
Bob Marley left us too soon when he died
in 1981 but his name and legacy lives
on through his music, his children and
through the success of reggae worldwide.
Legend the album greatest hits collection
that came out posthumously now has a DVD
sister to go along with.
Featuring greats like “Redemption
Song”, “Stir It Up”,
and Satisfy My Soul this song will give
you, a better appreciation for Bob’s
stage presence and emphasis on words.
Packed with real video/concert footage
from the Legend tracks as well as bonus
footage and songs, Time Will Tell: A 90
minute Documentary and bonus DVD-ROM Web
Content, and you can make your own personal
play list.
This DVD is a must have for any novice,
intermediate, or expert Bob fan. The documentary
is strong, with interviews from close
family and friends including Rita Marley
(his wife and member of the I Threes,
Peter Tosh, Bunny Livingston & Bob
himself, a historical aspect including
a brief History of Rastafarian culture
and Jamaica culture and a lot of video
and footage from Bob’s countryside
birthplace to his last concert in Pittsburgh.
This is a real treat for people who like
seeing success through personal struggle
and despite the opposition including the
higher ups in his own country! You get
to see how much his racial identity had
to do with his political theory and his
desire to speak for justice. This and
more is what Legend has to offer.
A reasonable cop at any music store ($10-20
bucks) this movie will sure please. I
give it 4 and ½ globes. The DVD
could have given you more full cut songs,
but overall it was an excellent idea.
This producer Jeff Fura and editor Keri
Winther did a great job of putting the
conditions and climate of Marley’s
surroundings throughout the DVD. Also
the interviews with Bob himself are informative
and real. You can see his desires and
hopes on his face and in his lyrics.
Uploading change was what Bob was all
about!
