The
life of Ernesto "Che" Guevara is one that
can hardly be explained in any book. From
his youth in Argentina, to his days as
a doctor, to his days helping Cuban Fidel
Castro overthrow the Batista regime, Che's
life is more than a 700 plus page book.
Saying that this is one of the best Che
books you will find as Jon Lee Anderson
does his best to research the people and
places that Che had known during his long
but yet still short life.
The
result of Anderson's research is an exceptional
work that will have you respecting Che
whether you like his politics or not for
being an individual thinker and one who
challenges injustices for people.
Some
highlights of the book include the trip
across South America which was the basis
for the recent movie "The Motorcycle Diaries",
his growth as a middle class child with
ties to the higher ups and the lower classes,
his relationships with women, his relationships
with notorious political organizers including
Castro. You also learn where the
two political motivators differed towards
the end of his life and how that could
have affected his unceremonious ending.
This
book has pictures of Che with family,
friends and in action and you get in depth
information from personal friends and
other people about what he was like as
a person not a persona.
For
those who have the Che t-shirts it would
be nice to know what the man actually
did? For them, the biography lovers and
those political hustlers this book will
be a delight to read. One man's struggle
can't instantly change your life but reading
the lifetime struggle for rights from
this man should put your life and goals
in life in perspective.
I'll
give this book 4 Globes.
